DescriptionAcross the globe, people of African descent experience racism, discrimination, and xenophobia, harming their health and wellbeing. These inequalities hinder achievement of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), as people of African descent disproportionately experience systematic barriers across SDGS, including poverty, economic growth, access to clean water, and poorer mental and physical health outcomes.
This side event will include diverse scholars, practitioners, and leaders of African descent. Speakers will present cutting-edge research and practice to support efforts to address structural racism and related physical and mental health inequities, and will discuss effective approaches to integrate human rights, health equity, and intersectionality.
